The title says it all really! Just a celebratory post to document that I’ve now hit just over £100,000 invested in Index Funds. To think, that back in late 2018, I didn’t have any savings at all. Literally nothing – zilch to now 1/10 of the way there on the FIRE journey – I’m pretty dead chuffed with that!
We’re all in our various / different stages on the FIRE journey so let’s hope this inspires people to continue on!
Congrats, nicely done. Not suggesting, but you can get a Porsche 911 cabriolet for that!
Haha! Since being on the journey cars are one of those things that I’ve totally disassociated myself with! (which is great). How’s things your end by the way?
Fantastic!! Congratulations, Jase!!
Are you on a positive rate of return now? I’m guessing yes if you started a couple of years ago. I only started July 2019 but just edging no loss now.
Hey Firelite,
Yes just about on positive rate of return now – I’m about 2.2% up. Glad to hear you’re back in the green! Let’s hope the markets are about to start another 10 year bull run! 🙂
Firstly- well done! Secondly- it’s probably worth moving from Vanguard to a fixed fee provider now- since although Vanguard is really cheap (0.25%), somebody like iWeb are even cheaper- with no annual fee at all (just £5 purchase/sale fees). Worth looking into to save those pennies!
Yes good shout Southwalesfi – I’m going to start looking at that over the next coming months. Hope things are going well your end?
Congrats mate 🙂
Is this ISA fun or a mix of ISA & Pension?
Well done again!
Hey Ryan,
It’s mainly ISA (£46,000) and general investment account – £54,000 ish. My pension is relatively small, but aim to get it to around £100,000 (pension) in the next 5-7 years so then come retirement age in the next 25-30 years, I should hopefully have around £300,000 ish in the pension!
I’m planning to retire earlier than my withdrawable pension age (aiming for around 40 – 42 years of age)
How’s things your end?
New to the blog, well done on achieving the milestone!
Thanks J!
And thanks again for dropping by! I’ll add your blog to the readers list! Good luck to us both over the next coming months!
Congratulations Jase! Reap what you sow (ISA investments and your veggies!) 🙂
